by Ellie Miller

In the distance

Someone is calling

Listen

They are calling your name

Run

Run until you can’t go any farther,

Run until your feet leave the ground and you can fly.

Flit like a hummingbird

Soar like an eagle

And as you fall

Your golden wings melt

Into the sea

It catches you

And wraps you up in its arms

Safety

In the distance

Someone is calling

But they are not calling your name

You can stay and rest

Inspired by: Flourish for Wind Band By Ralph Vaughan Williams

by Taylor Aboud

Beauty is something that is thought, to be perceived, must be seen. It is one of the many

fleeting treasures of our planet, and sooner or later we lose sight of the beauty in our own lives.

But there is always something that will bring you back around, and you don’t have to see it to

believe it. A feeling of calm greets you once you begin your journey, you can tell by the bright

and beautiful brass that you have been successful, a mixture of gold and the very honorable

purple fill your mind. It is as if you can see its beauty, but your eyes are closed. The miracle of

sound must be held near, for it too, can fade. Take haste young squire, the world awaits, but

when there is no beauty left around, just listen for the sound.

Glorious music fills the air

With gold and white colors, here and there.

I feel happy, I feel proud

Not just me, but also the crowd.

It’s an honor to be here today,

To watch the band come and play.

I imagine blue fireworks exploding in the air,

Everything is balanced, beautiful and beyond compare.
